Farm Store Associate Wanted

The First and Last Face Our Customers See. No Sales Theater Required.

“Real food, grown here, sold with honesty.”

Job Posting: Farm Store Retail Associate

Location: Litchfield Park, Arizona

Position: Hourly, pay depends on experience. Saturday availability required; additional weekday shifts vary by season.

About Blue Sky Organic Farms

Blue Sky Organic Farms has been growing certified organic produce in the Sonoran Desert for nearly 30 years. We’re 40 acres of working farm in Litchfield Park, Arizona: CCOF-certified, community-rooted, and in the middle of a serious season of growth. Our farm store is the most direct expression of what we do: real food, grown here, sold with honesty. The person in this role is often the first (and last) face our customers see. That matters to us.

What This Job Is

You’re the connective tissue between the farm and the people who eat from it. You’ll run the retail floor, support our Farm Box pickup operation, and help customers understand why what we grow is worth caring about. This isn’t a passive register job. We want someone who’s curious about food, comfortable talking to people, and takes ownership of how the store looks and runs.

Core Responsibilities

Retail Operations: Open and close the store following daily procedures; operate POS accurately (cash, card, Farm Box transactions); keep the floor and coolers clean, organized, and well-merchandised; rotate and stock produce, value-added products, and merchandise; track inventory and flag low stock to the store manager.

Customer Experience: Greet and assist customers with real product knowledge and genuine enthusiasm; handle Farm Box pickups smoothly, including substitutions and member questions; represent Blue Sky’s values (honest, direct, farm-first, no sales theater); resolve low-level concerns on the spot and escalate when needed.

Farm Store Integrity: Follow all food safety and CCOF organic handling protocols; keep accurate daily sales and waste logs; support seasonal promotions, u-pick events, and Farm Box expansion; communicate with the farm team about availability and harvest timing.

What We’re Looking For

Required: Genuine interest in organic farming, local food, or sustainable agriculture; comfortable on your feet for long stretches in a working-farm environment (heat, dust, outdoors); reliable, punctual, and self-directed (we don’t manage by micromanagement); basic math and cash-handling; clear, friendly communicator; able to lift up to 40 lbs regularly.

Preferred (not required): Retail, farmers market, grocery, or food service experience; familiarity with organic certification, CSA or Farm Box models, or local food systems; Square POS experience; bilingual English and Spanish.

Schedule and Working Conditions

Our store follows farm rhythms, not mall hours. Saturday availability is required; weekday shifts vary by season. You’ll work outside and in the elements. This is a real farm. It smells like one, sounds like one, and operates like one. If that sounds like a feature rather than a bug, you’ll fit in here.

What We Offer

Competitive hourly pay, depending on experience. Farm produce benefit (fresh organic vegetables while you’re here). A team that’s actually good at what they do and proud of it. Real exposure to how a working certified organic farm operates. Opportunity to grow into farm operations or Farm Box coordination roles.

How to Apply

Send a brief note telling us why this job makes sense for you right now, along with a resume or a list of relevant experience. We don’t need a formal cover letter. We do need to know you can show up, communicate honestly, and care about what you’re selling. Apply to: info@blueskyorganicfarms.com or drop off in person at the farm store.

Blue Sky Organic Farms is an equal opportunity employer. We hire based on fit, character, and reliability.
